Overview
Ask Tallo, a companion mobile app to the Tallo platform, was designed to help students explore career paths through AI-driven interactions. Integrated with OpenAI’s ChatGPT, the app provided a personalized, engaging experience tailored for Gen Z users. The project required creating a visually consistent design with Tallo while maintaining its own unique brand identity.
As the Lead UX/UI Designer, I led efforts to create an intuitive, user-friendly interface that aligned with Tallo's overall brand and incorporated personalization and sharing features through the native mobile app within a tight three-month timeframe.
The Challenge
The app needed to reflect Tallo’s brand while incorporating new features, such as a Career Insights quiz with SMS sharing, Career Matches, a Favorites page, and a Profile management section. The three-month timeline required a highly focused design and implementation process.
The Process
Part I
Leveraging existing research & the design system from the Tallo platform, I used consistent UI patterns to ensure brand cohesion. Human-Centered Design principles guided every step, from user journey mapping to feature definition. By adopting an Agile approach, I created user flows, then wireframes, and finally, high-fidelity prototypes using Figma, enabling efficient collaboration and handoff.
Part II
The designs emphasized intuitive navigation and AI-powered interactions, aligning with the preferences of Gen Z users. I created screens for each feature requirement that allowed for favoriting/saving career matches to the user's profile, as well as a SMS and social media sharing feature. Detailed design files and annotations facilitated smooth development and implementation.
The Results
The final app delivered an engaging, AI-powered experience, offering personalized career exploration, SMS-sharing capabilities, and a sleek, user-friendly UI. The design maintained brand consistency while introducing a distinct identity through unique visuals and interactions.
Ask Tallo was set to launched on iOS and Android platforms, and in QA and user testing, recieved positive feedback for its engaging, user-centric experience. The project highlighted the value of rapid, collaborative design and the importance of aligning new features with existing brand systems.
